How Light Mountain Calorie Estimates Are Calculated

This tool uses the MET formula:

Calories burned = MET value × body weight (kg) × duration (hours)

MET stands for metabolic equivalent of task. One MET equals your resting energy use, about 1 kcal per kg per hour. A 3.0-MET activity burns three times that amount. The light-intensity MET values here are adapted from the standard Physical Activity Compendium used in exercise science.
