Next enter the amount you plan to eat. The most accurate approach is to weigh your candy on a kitchen scale and enter grams. If you only know the package size in ounces, switch the unit to ounces. How the Estimate Works
The calculation is a simple proportion: multiply the weight of your candy by its calcium density, expressed in milligrams per 100 grams, then divide by 100. This gives the calcium in the whole portion. The Daily Value percentage is then computed against the FDA adult reference intake of 1,300 mg per day.
The calcium densities used here are typical values drawn from USDA FoodData Central and similar published nutrient databases. Worked Examples
Example 1: Milk chocolate bar. A 40 g milk chocolate bar at 189 mg calcium per 100 g provides 40 × 189 ÷ 100 = 75.6 mg calcium, or about 5.8% of the Daily Value. That is a small but real contribution, roughly equal to a splash of milk.
Example 2: Gummy candies. A 30 g handful of gummy bears contains essentially no calcium because gummy candies are made from sugar, syrup, gelatin, and flavorings, not dairy. The calculator returns 0 mg.
Example 3: Caramel candies by piece. Two 12 g caramels are 24 g total. With 138 mg per 100 g, they give 24 × 138 ÷ 100 = 33.1 mg calcium, about 2.5% of the Daily Value.

Factors Affecting Real-World Accuracy
Several things can make your actual calcium differ from the estimate. Brand recipes vary widely: a premium milk chocolate may use more milk powder, while a sugar-free version may rely on different sweeteners and fibers. Some candies and chocolate-style protein bars are fortified with calcium; if the label lists calcium, use that number instead. Dark chocolate percentage matters because higher cocoa solids change the mineral profile, and white chocolate often has slightly more milk solids than milk chocolate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does all candy contain calcium? No. Most sugar-based candy such as gummy bears, hard candy, and marshmallows contains little to no calcium. Milk-based candy — milk chocolate, white chocolate, caramel, fudge, and truffles — tends to have more.
